FIELD: electrical engineering; electrical energy storage devices. SUBSTANCE: electrode is made of sorbent such as activated carbon bonded by thermoplastic polymer particles; means size of polymer particles uniformly distributed among activated carbon particles is 0.08 to 0.9 of mean size of activated carbon particles. Proposed electrode may also use as sorbent following materials: (1) activated carbon and graphite or carbon black powder, mean size of powder particles being 0.02 to 1.4 of that of activated carbon particles; (2) activated carbon, graphite or carbon black powder, and activated carbon fabric bonded to electrode surface on one or two sides by polymer particles; mean diameter of fabric thread is 0.2 to 0.5 of that of activated carbon particles. Proposed electrode may be manufactured by mixing up loose carbon- containing material such as sorbent and polymer having bulk density of 0.05 to 0.19 g/cu. cm and mean particle size of 0.1 to 1.2 of that of sorbent particles whose bulk density is 0.1 to 0.9 of that of polymer at sorbent-to- polymer bulk density ratio of (6.0-0.7) : 1.
