Air/fuel ratio control/regulation system for internal combustion engine determines charging efficiency correction coefficients from determined demand air/fuel ratio and burn mode in use.
The system has an engine operating state detector, a basic fuel injection quantity detector using the engine speed and load, a demanded exhaust gas air/fuel ratio determination arrangement, a charging efficiency correction parameter determination arrangement, a demanded air/fuel ratio correction arrangement, an output fuel injection quantity determination arrangement and a fuel injection arrangement. A combustion mode decision device decides the burn mode to be used, whereby the charging efficiency correction coefficient determination arrangement determines the coefficients from the determined demand air/fuel ratio and the burn mode in use.
