PURPOSE: Provided is a prophylactic and therapeutic agent containing chitosan and chitosan-oligosaccharide as an active ingredient for mastitis in a milch cow. CONSTITUTION: A prophylactic and therapeutic agent containing chitosan and chitosan-oligosaccharide as an active ingredient is characterized by adding 0.5-0.0001 wt.% of chitosan-oligosaccharide having 1-16 glycones(66.3-97.5%), acetylation rate of 75-100%, and molecular weight of 104-2310 to a livestock feed. It is dissolved in water and orally administered into a milch cow.
