The invention relates to a method for producing a plurality of portions of a pre-cooked meal. The meal is first cooked and prepared at temperatures above 80 DEG C, and is then cooled during a cooling phase for less than 120 mins through a temperature range from 55 DEG C to 8 DEG C to reach an end temperature of between 8 DEG C and 0 DEG C. The meal is then stored at the end temperature for several days. Said meal is placed in a stirring vessel (22) and is simultaneously mixed and cooled during the cooling phase by an inventive stirring device (01, 26) embodied as a heat exchanger.
