Ti alloy make valve spring retainer

PURPOSE: To produce a valve spring retainer made of Ti alloy, excellent in wear resistance and durability. ;CONSTITUTION: The valve spring retainer 20 is constituted by providing a CrN film 28, having a TiN film 26 as ground coat, on one side having a bearing surface 24 to be in contact with a valve spring. The TiN film 26 and the CrN film 28 have ≥1μm film thickness, respectively, and the total film thickness of these TiN film 26 and CrN film 28 is set at ≤10μm. Further, a part 30 to be nontreated, free from the TiN film 26 and the CrN film 28, is formed in the recessed corner of the valve spring retainer 20.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
