The pump has a chamber(22) to hold fluid and which on one side is bounded by a membrane(20) which in order to change the volume of the chamber is movable by a lifting device(18) in the form of a proportional magnet(12) with a pusher(14) on one end of the coil core and acting upon an operating piston(18). The pump has a lockable inlet valve(30) between a fluid supply and the aforesaid chamber, a lockable outlet valve(34) between the chamber and fluid dispenser, and a lockable vent valve(32) between the chamber and the outside atmosphere. An Independent claim is included for a use for the dosing pump which is for an accurate, defined and reproducible application of a predetermined volume of lacquer or adhesive to the surface of a disc-form data carrier to produce a thin film.
