The method for increasing saponin content and controlling the ratio of triol and diol during adventitus roots culture in ginseng

PURPOSE: Provided is a method for increasing the saponin content of adventitious roots of cultivated ginseng to the level found in wild ginseng to obtain more productive and functional ginseng. CONSTITUTION: The method for increasing the saponin content of adventitious roots of ginseng comprises the following steps of: i) cultivating tissues of ginseng to obtain adventitious roots; ii) treating the roots with 1.0-100mg/L of benzyl adenine, 2iP, Zeatin, methyl jasmonate, TDZ, or kinetin jasmonic acid for 1-10 hours; iii) inoculating the roots into MS medium having 0.5-5.0mg/L of 3% sugar, IBA, or NAA; iv) cultivating the roots at pH 6.0 at 22-25 deg.C under fluorescent lamp, blue light, or red light; and v) adding 1.0-100mg/L of jasmonic acid, or methyl jasmonate for 7 days 10 days before harvesting the roots.
