The invention concerns a method for making a food product based on pizza pastry which consists in: preparing at least a pastry base; providing a food filling (2) on said pastry base; covering said filling (2) with a top rolled-out pastry (3); and baking said resulting product to obtain a sufficiently rigid product capable of being hand-held to be eaten like a sandwich. The invention is characterised in that it consists in: producing the base pastry and the top rolled-out pastry (3) continuously from a common initial base pastry, the top rolled-out pastry (3) being formed by the longitudinal (4A) and side edges; producing at least an opening (10) in the edges (4A) by material removing; folding, then turning over the longitudinal edges on the filling, with a slight overlap; then hemming the edges (4A) to seal the food product. The invention is applicable for making fast-food product.
