Oxygen or fuel gas is injected into a furnace by means of a lance in which at least a part of the oxygen or fuel gas is mixed with the combustion products or fumes from the furnace before it is injected. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a device for the injection of oxygen or gas into a furnace; (b) a device for the combustion of oxygen and fuel incorporating a burner and such a device for injecting oxygen and/or fuel gas.
