PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program for specifying and extracting graphic data capable of easily and accurately specifying and extracting only required graphic data from an electronic document, a computer-readable recording medium having the specifying and extracting program recorded therein, and a graphic data specifying and extracting device. ;SOLUTION: To specify the graphic data in the electronic document 10, a computer is allowed to function as a component element data extraction means 1 for extracting component element data of the electronic document 10 and a graphic data specifying means 2 for collecting basic graphic rectangular area data into one group by using the basic graphic rectangular area data in the component element data by the component element data extraction means 1 when the basic graphic rectangular areas come into contact with each other, collecting the area data into one larger group when the groups come into contact with each other, repeating the grouping until the groups are not brought into contact with each other, and lastly specifying the group not coming into contact with any other group as a graphic data.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
