The gas-hydraulic control unit (12) includes a valve assembly (13). When the plunger (2) is resiliently deflected, the valve regulates flow of hydraulic fluid from the oil chamber (9) into the gas chamber (8). This regulation assures that acceleration transmitted to the vehicle by the plunger, does not exceed a predetermined maximum.
