The invention relates to a motor vehicle steering mechanism comprising the following elements: a steering wheel (1) that is rotationally fixed to a steering column; a steering pinion (8) meshed with a steering rack (9); an angle sensor (19) for detecting the position of the steering column (2) or the steering rack (1) and for generating a signal representative thereof; a first drive (11) that is triggered by a first electronic control system (14) and acts on the steering pinion (8) or the steering rack (9), the signal of the angle sensor (19) for detecting the position of the steering column (2) or the steering wheel (1) being an input signal for the control system (14); a planetary gear system (5) connected to the steering column (2) at one end and to the steering pinion (8) at the other; and a second drive (3) driving the housing of the planetary gear system. A torque control system (17, 18) actuates the second drive (3) so as to create a defined hand torque on the steering wheel (1) through the torque applied by the second drive (3) to the housing of the planetary gear system (5).
