PURPOSE: An electron gun for a color cathode ray tube is provided to achieve improved resolution by reducing the magnifying power of the main lens and dynamic voltages. CONSTITUTION: An electron gun comprises a triode unit including a plurality of electron emitting members, and a control electrode and an accelerating electrode for controlling and accelerating radiated electron beams; and a plurality of focusing electrodes(143,144) for focusing electron beams to a screen, and an anode electrode. At least one of the focusing electrodes is applied with a constant voltage so as to form a constant voltage focusing electrode, and the other of the focusing electrodes is applied with a variable voltage varying in accordance with the deflection of electron beams so as to form a variable voltage focusing electrode. The electron gun adopts one or more dynamic lenses for horizontal and vertical divergence of the electron beam passing through the variable voltage focusing electrode and the constant voltage focusing electrode.
