The support plate (1) for a snowchain on a motor vehicle tire has a link ring (12) at its end for the chain. The plate has an angled section (2) on each end and a pair of flanges (3,4) along each side. The plate has an opening (10) at each end for fastening of the link rings. The openings can be formed in the flanges.
