PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method excellent in throughput of a process, capable of forming a porous structure with a fair regularity in nanometer order. PSOLUTION: The method for producing the porous structure comprises the following processes: a process which forms a molded article comprising a porous structure forming material which contains a block copolymer or a graft copolymer each having a polymer chain whose main chain is cut by irradiation with an energy ray and an indecomposable polymer chain against irradiation with the energy ray; a process which forms a micro phase separation structure in the molded article by annealing; a process which cuts the main chain of a polymer phase in the micro phase separation structure by irradiation with the energy ray; and a process which forms the porous structure comprising a remaining polymer phase by etching, and selectively removing the polymer phase which has the cut main chain.
