PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specific compound based on a PNA( peptide nucleic acid ), usable as an artificial nucleic acid through cleaving a DNA at a specific site based on the recognition function of PNA on the DNA, to provide a method for producing the compound, and to provide a method for cleaving a DNA by the compound.;SOLUTION: The compound is represented by the general formula( wherein, B is adenine, guanine, cytosine or thymine; n is an integer of 2; and m is an integer of 1 ), which is formed by using an acidic catalytic substance. This compound is an artificial restriction enzyme which is capable of cleaving a specific sequence portion of a DNA having a base sequence complementary to that of this compound by hydrolysis of a phosphodiester bond similarly to the case with a natural enzyme.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
