PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high molecular weight hindered amine compound having excellent handleability without impairing the original optical transmittance of a resin for an optical material even when used for the stabilization of the resin.;SOLUTION: This hindered amine compound has an optical transmittance of ≥99% at 425 nm wavelength in a 10 wt% toluene solution and a molecular weight of 600 to 1,000, and is preferably represented by general formula (I).
