Health care food comprising the extract of Curcuma longa L. for the prevention of gastritis and gastric ulcer

PURPOSE: A health supplementary food containing a crude extract, a nonpolar solvent soluble extract, a purified fraction of Rhizoma Curcumae Longae and a food acceptable additive is provided. The product is safe and effective in prevention and treatment of gastritis and peptic ulcer disease associated with the activity of histamine receptors. CONSTITUTION: The health supplementary food contains a crude extract, a nonpolar solvent soluble extract and a purified fraction of Rhizoma Curcumae Longae. The purified fraction of Rhizoma Curcumae Longae is obtained by the steps of: grinding Rhizoma Curcumae Longae; preparing a crude extract by extracting the ground Rhizoma Curcumae Longae with a nonpolar solvent such as water, methanol or ethanol; preparing a nonpolar solvent soluble extract by suspending the crude extract in a nonpolar solvent such as ethyl acetate and filtering the suspension; and subjecting the nonpolar solvent soluble extract to column chromatography and TLC. The extract and purified fraction of Rhizoma Curcumae Longae is inoculated in an amount of 0.1 to 500mg/kg per day.
