Health care food comprising the extract of Glycyrrhiza uralensis FISCH., Curcuma longa L. and Perilla frutescens BRITT. for the prevention of gastritis and gastric ulcer

PURPOSE: A health supplementary food containing crude extracts, nonpolar solvent-soluble extracts and purified fractions of Glycyrrhizae Radix, Rhizoma Curcumae Longae and Folium Perillae which exhibit excellent efficacy on inhibiting gastritis and peptic ulcer is provided. The food can be used in prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal tract inflammation and peptic ulcer. CONSTITUTION: The health supplementary food contains crude extracts, nonpolar solvent-soluble extracts and purified fractions of Glycyrrhizae Radix, Rhizoma Curcumae Longae and Folium Perillae. The purified fractions are obtained by the steps of: preparing a polar solvent-soluble extract by grinding Rhizoma Curcumae Longae and extracting with a polar solvent such as water, methanol or ethanol, concentrating under reduced pressure; preparing a nonpolar solvent-soluble extract by dissolving the crude extract with a nonpolar solvent such as ethyl acetate, filtering the suspension to separate the nonpolar solvent-soluble extract layer and concentrating; and subjecting the nonpolar solvent-soluble extract to column chromatography and TLC.
