Production of glass ceramic disks with bent openings and shaped glass ceramic disks

The drilled precursor panel (1) is heated to a temperature lower than the glass nucleation temperature. The periphery of the opening (2) is then rapidly heated by burners (4) until the viscosity of the glass is such that it may be deformed, the heating time being sufficiently short to avoid nucleation. The area is then deformed by tools (5,6,7) and the panel is again heated to a temperature less than the nucleation temperature. An Independent claim is also included for a glass ceramic panel.
