PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously measure the amount of water drunk and the amount of urine discharged, continuously, and automatically, and to acquire data over passage of time, indicating the amount of water drunk and the amount of urine discharged in a unified manner. PSOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a computer (32); a supplied water weight measuring section (2), a spilled water weight measuring section (3), a discharged urine weight measuring section (4) for measuring changes in the supplied water weight, spilled water weight, and discharged urine weight and outputting them as electrical signals, respectively, and a means (5) for converting the electrical signals into digital data and transmitting it to the computer; a cage (31) for confining an animal, a means (35) for supplying the animal with water; a means (37) for collecting water spilled by the animal, and a means (40) for collecting urine discharged by the animal. Detailed data for each predetermined time interval and scheduled data for each constant time interval that is longer than the predetermined time interval about the amount of water drunk, and the amount of urine discharged corrected for the amount of spilled water are outputted through the digital data transmitted to the computer (32).
