PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a model animal useful for elucidation of participation of in vivo calpain to neuropathologic state and to provide its utilization. PSOLUTION: The present invention provides a nonhuman animal in which a gene encoding calpastatin is modified, its descendent animal, a neurodegenerative disorder-affected model animal obtained by crossing the nonhuman animal with the same kind of model animal affected by other disease and a tissue or a cell obtained from the nonhuman animal and a method for screening a substance for improving neurodegenerative disorders by using the above animal.
