PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the evaluation method and design method of a fin for underwater propulsion capable of quantitatively judging the degree of performances in advance, efficiently designing the fin, and shortening a design period.;SOLUTION: By putting the fin in a tank and towing it or circulating water, the lift FL1 and drag FD1 of the fin are measured, and a lift coefficient CL and a drag coefficient CD are obtained by calculation from the lift FL1 and the drag FD1. By using the obtained lift coefficient CL and drag coefficient CD, the lift FL2 and drag FD2 of the fin at the time of making the fin perform oscillating wing motion are calculated, the composite force of the lift FL2 and the drag FD2 is calculated, the fin advancing direction component of the composite force is turned to propulsive force, and the fin is designed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
