The method involves measuring a number of pulse edges (F) of a sensor signal (S), in a time window (W) after arrival of a predetermined pulse edge. An estimation is made that a sensor signal is plausible if one pulse edge has been measured in the time window, and an estimation is made that the sensor signal is not plausible if none of the pulse edges has been measured in the time window.
