PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hierarchical relationship determination method by which hierarchical human relationship relevant to a sentence can be determined more specifically, a hierarchical relationship determination device, a hierarchical relationship determination program and a recording medium thereof. PSOLUTION: A referent specification section 17a specifies that a noun extracted by an extraction section 16 corresponds to which of three persons, a speaker, a partner and a target person. A honorific determination section 17b determines the hierarchical relationship among the three persons based on a honorific extracted from a detection section 14. A rank determination section 17c determines the hierarchical relationship among the three persons based on a rank DB 18. An inside and outside determination section 17d determines the hierarchical relationship among the three persons based on an inside and outside relationship of a word of a honorific dictionary 15. A closeness determination section 17e determines the hierarchical relationship among the three persons based on the closeness among referents.
