Preparation of 2-Butyl-4-spirocyclopentane-1 - [(2 '- (1-triphenylmethyl-tetrazol-5-yl) biphenyl-4-yl) methyl-2-imidazolin-5-one (trityl) at nemzse 2 butyl-4-spirocyclopentane-2-imidazolin-5-one of formula III is reacted with 4-brommethly-2 '- (1-triphenylmethyl-tetrazol-5-yl) biphenyl of the formula VI in an aprotic solvent in the presence of an alkali metal catalyzed crown ether to yield trityl irbesartan of formula I which is obtained after filtration of the salts from the mother liquor by concentration and ochlazením.Tritylirbesartan may be converted to irbesartan.
