The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the preparation of a radio pharmaceutical with a short half-life from a precursor substance which is exposed to a radioactive reaction gas. The invention is characterized by a disposable cartridge (1) with at least one first and one second connection opening (2, 3), wherein a synthesis chamber (6) is delimited for example by two filter elements (4, 5) in the disposable cartridge (1), in which synthesis chamber (6) the precursor substance (7) is pre-metered together with a reagent (8). The invention further relates to a synthesis module (10) with a valve-controlled line system (19) for the transport of the radioactive reaction gas, an inert gas, of the synthesized radiopharmaceutical and gaseous waste products, wherein in one, preferably in a plurality of, docking positions one docking element (11) and one connection line (12) each are provided on the synthesis module (10), via which docking element (11) and connection line (12) the line system (19) of the synthesis module (10) can be connected to the first and second connection opening (2, 3) of the disposable cartridge (1).
