The invention relates to a method for producing a contact piece as well as a contact piece for low-voltage, medium-voltage, high-voltage, and generator switchgear according to the generic part of claims 1 and 11. In order to render a method for producing generic-type contact pieces even more economic, the contact piece is cast in a near net-shaped manner in a permanent mold casting process by first melting the material in a crucible and then pouring the material into a permanent metal mold into which webs have been introduced beforehand, said webs leaving slots.
