The invention concerns a strapping device comprising a frame (5), a platform (6) forming a palletized load support, means for supporting at least two film (8) unwinding devices (7), said means being mobile in vertical translation relative to the platform, means for relative rotation of the load and the film unwinding devices. The device also comprises guiding means for tensioning a portion of loose film strips linking the palletized load and the unwinding devices, at the end of the strapping process, means for locking the loose film strips, means for welding the tensioned portions of loose strips, means for cutting the loose strips arranged between the welding means and the locking means, the guiding, locking, welding and cutting means being arranged substantially above the palletized load, so as to lock the strapping at the upper surface.
