The vehicle is equipped with a system detecting with a sensor element (11,12) if a seat (10) is occupied by a person. The information is transmitted to a processing and evaluating unit (13) by a bus or other connection. When a seat (10) is found not to be occupied by a human being particular functions such as a seat heating facility (16,17), a hot or cool air releasing device (15,18), and a video camera (19,100) are automatically switched off in order to save energy. The system is capable to differentiate between transported objects and passengers.
