The seat adjustment device has a control (3) which is operated when the seat backrest (8) is released mechanically and folded forwards, for longitudinal forwards movement of the front passenger seat (1) to facilitate entry and exit of a rear passenger. The control is coupled to a release switch (6), operated via the mechanical release lever (7) for the seat backrest and a seat backrest switch (5), operated when the backrest is folded down, with the seat setting motor only operated when both switches are in a given switch position.
