The seat has a backrest which is pivoted about a horizontal axis (1a) between a forwards folded position and an upright working position, the seat height adjustment provided by front and rear pairs of levers (2,3), each attached to an upper rail (4a) which slides along a lower rail (4b) attached to the vehicle body. The upper rail has an auxiliary longitudinal guide region (5) for the lower ends of the levers.
