Device for charging electricity storage mechanisms for e.g. mobile phones, uses different power supply sources for charging one electricity storage mechanism e.g. nickel cadmium battery

A single electricity storage mechanism (1) e.g. a nickel cadmium battery, is chargeable by different power supply sources, such as a built-in generator (2), a photo voltaic device (6), and an external voltage supply. An automatic charging controller (4) regulates charging of the storage mechanism with one of the power supply sources based on the availability of power supply source and/or type or charging condition of the storage mechanism. An independent claim is also included for a method of charging an electricity storage mechanism.
