The system has a seat belt, whose end is mounted in a vehicle body by an end stud pre-load device (10) that consists of a seat belt retractor for receiving the end of the seat belt and a tightening device (15) provided for a belt spindle (13) of the seat belt retractor. A locking arrangement causes locking of the belt spindle during rotation of the belt spindle. The belt spindle is movable radially by a load that is engaged during rotation in a belt extracting direction until the locking arrangement is engaged in a locking gear teeth of a seat belt spindle housing.
