Powder of stainless steel, the composition of powder metallurgical parts preparation processes of compacted and sintered parts containing the same. The invention relates to a powder of stainless steel, and to compositions that comprise at least 10 weight percent chromium. The vanadium is present in an amount of at least 4 times the amount of carbon and nitrogen.The powder of steel comprises from 10 to 30% chromium, 0.1 to 1.0 of vanadium, 0.5 to 1.5% silica, less than 0.1% carbon, less than 0.07% of nitrogen. A process for the preparation of a sintered piece and a piece of agglomerated slate, is also claimed.
