The cell (60) has photodiodes (9) for determining light intensity of a light of LEDs (2, 3), where the light is emitted from the cell. The cell possesses constant, predefined characteristics with respect to the light of the LEDs, so that blood oxygen content of the blood sample is determined based on change of the light intensity of the light of the LEDs. The cell is transparent and is coupled to a supply unit, through which the blood is supplied.
