PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable special symbol reading method for improving reading accuracy of a special symbol when the special symbol showing information with the number of line segments is dirty, and to provide a program therefor and a device therefor. PSOLUTION: The number of the line segments included in an extraction special symbol extracted from a photographic image is read (S65), an estimation special symbol is acquired based on the number of the read line segments and a prescribed arrangement condition corresponding to the number of the line segments, the extraction special symbol is corrected such that sizes or central positions are aligned between the extraction special symbol and the estimation special symbol, and thereafter the number of the line segments included in the corrected extraction special symbol is read (S68).
