Disclosed is a method which can analyze a low-molecular-weight organiccompound having 20 or less carbon atomscontained in a water- and oil-repellent composition in a trace amount withhigh accuracy. Specifically disclosed is an analysis methodwhich comprises the following steps (a) to (c): (a) mixing a water- and oil-repellent composition comprising a medium and afluorinated polymer dispersed or dissolved in the medium with an alcoholhaving 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and causing the fluorinatedpolymer to aggregate, thereby producing a solution containing aggregates ofthe fluorinated polymer; (b) separating the solutioncontaining the aggregates of the fluorinated polymer into a liquid fractionand a solid fraction, thereby producing a liquid phase; and(c) measuring the concentration of a low-molecular-weight organic compoundhaving 20 or less carbon atoms in the liquid phase byemploying LC-MS, LC-MS/MS or GC-MS, wherein the fluorinated polymer has arepeating unit derived from a compound havinga perfluoroalkyl group.
