The cylinder (1) has a plastic housing, where a piston (2) made of plastic is axially moved into an interior of the housing. A catch (3) made of plastic is connected with the piston and is upstream to the piston. Magnetizable additives are added to the plastic of the catch for producing a magnetizable region (5) in a region that contacts with the plastic housing of the cylinder. The magnetizable region is a part of a displacement transducer, and is in effective connection with a sensor (7).
