PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improvement of amino acid production by reduction of valine production and improvement of amino acid production by reduction of AHAS (AcetoHydroxy Acid Synthase) activity. PSOLUTION: There is provided (1) a microorganism C producing an amino acid X, wherein the microorganism C is obtained by a method comprising the following steps: (a) a step of selecting a parental microorganism A producing amino acids from dextrose in a percent yield Y; (b) a step of mutagenizing the parental microorganism A by a method selected from the group consisting of (i) random chemical mutagenesis and (ii) rDNA mutagenesis of ilvBN operon to produce a microorganism B; (c) a step of selecting at least one mutagenized microorganism B from the step (b), wherein the microorganism B is auxotrophic for branched chain amino acids; and (d) a step of selecting at least one microorganism C producing an amino acid X from dextrose in a percent yield Z from the step (c), wherein the percent yield Z is greater than the percent yield Y.
