PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely protect superconducting coils against damage and deterioration due to quenching.;SOLUTION: In the superconducting magnet device 10 including superconducting coils 11a to 11e which generate a magnetic field, a cryostat 12 which accommodates the superconducting coils and holds them in a superconducting state, and an excitation power source 13 which supplies electric power to the superconducting coils through a breaker 14 to excite the superconducting coils, heater coils 15a to 15e and a diode 16 which are connected to each other in series are connected in parallel to the superconducting coils 11a to 11e, and the heater coils are disposed to heat the superconducting coils 11a to 11e in the cryostat 12. When the breaker 14 is opened on detecting quenching of the superconducting coils to cut off the power supply from the excitation power source 13 to the superconducting coils 11a to 11e, currents flowing to the superconducting coils 11a to 11e can be commutated by the diode 16 to the heater coils 15a to 15e simultaneously with the cutoff.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
