The method involves separating sausages from a sausage strand at a cutting position (25). The sausage strand is pulled apart in front of the cutting position. The sausage strand in front of the cutting position is led between two conveyor belts (14, 15) i.e. endless double toothed belts. Another pair of conveyors belts (60, 61) is provided upstream of the former conveyor belts, where the conveyor belts (60, 61) runs slowly than the former conveyor belts before the cutting position. An independent claim is also included for a device for additionally treating sausages in a sausage strand, comprising a pair of conveyor belts.
