PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of determining that a message has been read when a recipient is considered to have certainly finished reading the message.;SOLUTION: A method for determining a read/unread state includes: predicting upper and lower limits of a reading finish time required for a recipient to finish reading a message, from a unit reading time required for the recipient to read one character and the number of characters in the message; calculating a considered time during which the recipient is reading the message by actions made to the message by the recipient; and determining that the message has been read when the considered reading time before the message is deleted is within the predicted range of the reading finish time, or when the considered reading time exceeds the upper limit of the predicted range of the reading finish time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
