Disclosed is a method for detecting gastric cancer, comprising: (i) providing a biological sample; and (ii) detecting the levels of human zymogen granule protein 16 (ZG16) in said sample, wherein the overexpression of ZG16 in the biological sample is indicative 5 of cancer.
