An expansion joint system for bridging a gap that is located between spaced-apart structuralmembers. The expansion joint system may be utilized, for example, in roadway,bridge andtunnel constructions where gaps are formed between spaced-apart, adjacentconcrete sections.The expansion joint system includes flexible moment connections for connectingvehicle loadbearing members (18) to the support member (30). The expansion joint systemincludes flexiblemoment connections and in certain embodiments friction springs.
