Disclosed is a method for determining a master clock device, comprising receiving a first message sent by a first clock device, the first message comprising first clock level information, and the first clock level information being determined according to first time level information, first frequency level information and a preset function; receiving a second message sent by a second clock device, the second message comprising second clock level information, and the second clock level information being determined according to second time level information, second frequency level information and the preset function; determining the first clock device as the master clock device according to the first clock level information and the second clock level information. Also disclosed are a message sending method, a message receiving method, a clock device, a clock synchronization system, and a receiving device. By means of the technical solutions, the master clock device can be selected according to information comprehensively reflecting the accuracy of the candidate master clock device.
