ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM AND A METHOD FOR VERIFYING THE STEERING ANGLE OF THE SAME, CAPABLE OF CALCULATING A FINAL ABSOLUTE STEERING ANGLE BY TAKING AN AVERAGE OF FIRST AND SECOND ABSOLUTE STEERING ANGELS
PURPOSE: An electric power steering system and a method for verifying the steering angle of the same are provided to improve the reliability of a final absolute steering angle by calculating the final absolute steering angle when the difference between first and second absolute steering angles is at a reference level or less.;CONSTITUTION: An electric power steering system comprises a torque sensor and an electronic control unit (20). The torque sensor comprises a first rotor (14), a second rotor (16), a first angle element (131), a second angle element (132), and a third angle element (133). The first rotor is connected to an input shaft (13). The second rotor is connected to an output shaft. The first angle element is arranged with the first rotor side by side and provides the absolute steering angle of the first rotor to the electronic control unit. The second and third angle elements are arranged in the bottom of the first rotor and provide the relative steering angle of the first rotor to the electronic control unit. The electronic control unit determines a reference steering angle on the basis of information detected by the torque sensor, verifies relative steering angles from the second and third angle elements, and calculates a verified final absolute steering angle.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013;[Reference numerals] (20) Electronic control unit; (21) Reference steering angle determination unit; (22) First tracking unit; (23) Second tracking unit; (24) Calculation unit; (25) Steering angle providing unit; (26) Verification unit; (27) Notification unit; (28) Reset unit
