PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition and a food composition containing a tuna eye extract as an active ingredient for preventing or treating arthritis is provided to effectively suppress autoimmune diseases and inflammation which are developed in joint without side effects by inducing immunotolerance and to prevent and treat arthritis. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating arthritis contains a tuna eye crushed material or extract as an active ingredient. The composition induces immunotolerance which occurs in gut associated lymphoid tissue (GALT). The composition additionally contains glucosamine, chondroitin, or a combination thereof. A food composition for treating arthritis contains the tuna eye crushed material or extract as an active ingredient.
