The driver assistance system is provided for applying a steering torque of lesser magnitude and correspondingly longer time period to the steering. The steering torque of lesser magnitude is temporally subsequent to steering torque that provides the steering command and neutralizes the steering torque providing the steering command. The steering torque of lesser magnitude is aligned against this steering torque providing the steering command.
