The device has a feeding device (24) arranged in a front region of the device for supplying a bulk material (22) on an endless belt (10). A discharge device (32) is arranged in a rear region of the device for discharging the material from the belt. Three conveyor belts (40, 42, 44) transport the material back to the feeding device discharged from the discharge device. The discharge device comprises a cleaning device (34) for cleaning contaminations (38) from the material. The feeding device comprises two sliders (28, 30) for adjustment of an amount of the material on the belt. The bulk material is sand and/or splinter. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a treadmill device.
